Lost an auction - why didn't snipe work? | Wed May 04, 2011 03:17 PM | | |

I have used this snipe a number of times without a problem, but I just lost the most incredible deal ever on ebay and I need to know what went wrong so I can decide whether to risk snipes anymore!
Item is 170633498397 and my snipe was set to more than twice the amount the winning bidder paid, 5 seconds before completion.
Was it something I did??
Thanks for help

If you check the My Status field you will see the following reason:
"The seller doesn't ship to the location of your primary shipping address"
That means that the seller put a restriction to block those bidders whose primary shipping address is not where this seller ships.
You should contact the seller and ask to either remove such restriction or add you to the exception list of allowed bidders.
When not sure, you should always place a minimum manual bid. If your manual bid goes through, your snipe should be fine as well.

Thanks very much for the information! I can't believe I haven't run into this problem before seeing as I buy stuff from all over the place - I will reset my address details to my local one when shopping in the UK. Glad to know the error was mine and not a snipe problem.
